Self Care Reflection and A Giveaway!

Mom life, wife life, woman hood, oh hell human being hood – no matter what it is, I think we can all agree that taking the time to put your personal needs first has its place.

Life can be so busy, demanding, stressful, and beautiful but I think it’s easier to see the beauty when we’ve got plenty of oxygen. You know – that saying – they always tell the adults to put their oxygen mask on BEFORE they put their kids on?!?! For me, it’s really easy to lose track of this. I get so caught up being everyone’s everything that I literally forget to make time for myself. I realized that recently when I was invited to check out some services that a new local salon has to offer. I was literally laying on the massage table silently asking myself “Why in the WORLD was my last massage over 2 years ago?” “Why don’t I do things like this more often?” Right there in that moment I was able to see (and feel) the benefits to using self care as a means to recharge! So, I hope you’ll indulge me while I share about my experience at Salon Addison Davis and Hartwood Spa in York, PA.
**And, I want to remind you – I only share things that I love here. Thats why you don’t see a ton of posts like this from me – I only want to bring you the truth in my experiences. While I wasn’t paid to say any of these things or write this post – I want to be clear – I was gifted a Hot Stone Massage and a Facial, for reviewing purposes – whether the review was positive or negative! All opinions are my own!

Upon arriving at Salon Addison Davis and Hartwood Spa I checked in and was taken back to change into a super comfy robe and fill out my forms. I was offered water and snacks left to hang out in the most peaceful little sitting room, which was good because A.) I could always use a snack and B.) I don’t get a lot of peace and quiet! I almost didn’t know what to do with myself!

Soon, my masseuse, Amanda, came out to introduce herself and bring me back for my Hot Stone Massage. You guys, that woman gives life changing massages! I hadn’t realized how much I needed something like this. I think we get used to dealing with minor aches and pains on a daily basis but as I lay there I knew I should be doing this on a regular basis! The heat from the stones and the massage promote improved sleep, help to reduce anxiety and stress, and help relive muscle tension and pain. All. The. Things!

“A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy. It’s used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. According to the University of New Hampshire Health Services, hot massage stones are heated to between 130 and 145 degrees.” (

Next,  I was led to a second room where Kathleen was going to do my Pumpkin Enzyme Facial! Kathleen really educates you on caring for your skin and the best ways to do so! Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Exfoliation sloughs off dirt and dead skins cells (which can clog pores) and signals your skin to promote the growth of new skin cell which boosts collagen and elastin production! The Pumpkin Enzyme facial delivers a combination of pumpkin enzymes (which smell amazing BTW) and clarifying peptides that work together to clear the skin of impurities, increase cell turnover, and leave the skin looking fresh and renewed! After cleansing and exfoliating your face Kathleen evaluates your skin so that she can apply the perfect mask! While your mask cures she gives a warm hand and foot massage! My face felt SO clean and refreshed after!

And, on top of all that, I have fantastic news! Salon Addison Davis and Hartwood Spa would like to extend their generosity to all of you!!!
